EAG Presents Poster at AAPS Annual Meeting
EAG Life Sciences is proud to announce that a technical poster by two staff members has been accepted at this year's AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition, October 24-27, 2011 in Washington D.C.
Dr. Eden Tesfu presented an AAPS poster session on Tuesday, October 25, Hall C, from 8:00-12:00: "Case Study on Impurity Identification, Isolation and Characterization". Co-authored with Hossein Shabany, Ph.D., the poster illustrates an approach taken for structural elucidation of an unknown HPLC peak observed in a drug product. Steps to tackle this issue include the transition of the HPLC method to an LC/MS friendly method, mass determination of the unknown peak using LC/MS, tandem mass determination for structural elucidation and forced degradation. This study shows the impurity was formed due to degradation arising from a Millard reaction of amine based API with the lactose.
